Clinical Study in Patients with Diabetic Retinopathy Treated with Enhanced External Counterpulsation[J]. Journal of Sun Yat-sen University (Medical Sciences), 2011, 32(5).DOI:
【Objective】 To evaluate the clinical effect in the patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR) treated with enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) combined with drug. 【Methods】 This study was a retrospective review of 103 patients with diabetic retinopathy. A total of 53 patients (83 eyes) who treated with EECP combined with drug were formed group A and the other 50 patients (74 eyes) who only treated with medication were formed group B. We analyzed the clinical effect of two groups by comparing the visual acuity
fundus fluorescein angiography(FFA) and optical hemodynamics. 【Results】 There were significant improvement in group A with visual acuity
FFA and optical hemodynamics
and there were statistically significant differences between group A and group B (P<0.05). 【Conclusions】Ophthalmologists must be alert for diabetes. Diabetic retinopathy and the patient’s vision could be improved effectively by EECP and the therapy have not evident complications.
