【Objective】To investigate the effect of luteolin on gap junction intercellular communication and the expression of protein in Cx32/Cx26-transfected Hela cells.【Methods】SRB assay was used to detect the cytotoxicity of luteolin on Hela cells. The function of GJIC was determined by “parachute” dye-coupling assay. Western blotting was performed to detect the expression level of Cx26. 【Results】 Luteolin had no cytotoxicity on Hela cells at the concentration of 0~1 μmol/L; Preatreatment of cells with luteolin increased intercellular dye transfer and the Cx26 protein expression. 【Conclusion】 Luteolin enhanced the function of gap junction in Cx32/Cx26-transfected Hela cells
probably through the improvement of Cx26 expression.
